Horikazu is known as one of the greatest traditional Japanese tattoo artists that were ever seen, producing fantastic, intricate and incredibly detailed full body tattoos throughout his life for some of the most powerful men in the Tokyo underground. This book is written by one of the few that were fortunate enough to know Horikazu during his lifetime, Martin Hladik, who documented and photographed much of Horikazu?s work during his time hidden away in a studio in Asakusa. The book features photographs of the Horikazu?s work, as well as accounts from Martin from their years of working together. This is a fantastic book, featuring more than 460 images, across 500 pages. The book discusses Horikazu?s connections with the yakuza, and his work for them having tattooed a number of the yakuza top bosses, as well as his very work intensive life, and even his family. The book not only provides a rare interview with Horikazu himself shortly before his death, but another with his eldest son, Horikazuwaka soon after his death. Regardless of whether you?re a tattoo enthusiast, a tattoo artist, a Horikazu fan or even just a lover of the traditional Japanese style then this is an excellent book for you, or even a fantastic gift for someone else who would love it.
